ArtsConnect: Cleo Parker Robinson’s “Firebird” at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House

CBCA Members and their employees are invited to request up to four complimentary tickets to a special dress rehearsal performance of Cleo Parker Robinson Dance‘s “Firebird” at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on Friday, September 15.

This final dress rehearsal will include a full run of show from 2-4pm, with a reception immediately following where you are invited to stay for a drink, appetizers, and socialize with artists and guests.

Unlike traditional versions of this magical ballet which are usually staged in Slavic settings, Cleo Parker Robinson’s lush and innovative interpretation is set in the Hawaiian Islands, with the Firebird being an incarnation of Pele, the Goddess of the Volcano. Historic figures from Hawaiian history – including King Kamehameha and Queen Lili’uokalani – appear as characters in the piece, along with many of the traditional gods and goddesses of Hawaiian culture.

Composer: Igor Stravinsky

Choreographer: Cleo Parker Robinson
