ArtsConnect: MCA Denver
CBCA members and their employees are invited to receive 2 complimentary tickets to MCA Denver for an exclusive after hours evening of contemporary art. CBCA members will have the entire museum to themselves, including the rooftop café and access to three amazing exhibitions.
- Keith Haring: Grace House Mural features, for the first time since it was created, a site-specific painting that Haring executed in 1983/84 for those living at Grace House, a Catholic youth center in Manhattan. Recently excavated from its original site, the mural now exists as a series of 13 panels and additional ephemera including the original plaque, mailbox, and two doors that Haring integrated into his design, which collectively mark the details of its initial installation.
- Colorado in the Present Tense: Narkita Gold, Rick Griffith, Nathan Hall, and Maia Ruth Lee centers on how artists of the Colorado region are absorbing, responding to, grappling with, and reimagining the upended world in which we presently find ourselves. The exhibition will present commissioned new work and reframe existing projects from four Colorado-based artists that respond to our current moment of upheaval, uncertainty, and complexity.
- Jaime Carrejo: Waiting presents a new installation by the Denver-based artist that explores the relationship between confinement and duration. Through a layering of Southwestern symbolism, mid-century design, and objects from his own domestic space, Carrejo offers an environment reminiscent of an interior waiting room and exterior courtyard. These settings intend to prompt reflection on various physical and psychological barriers experienced during the pandemic but also pose the question of what will come after this extended period of waiting.
