Share a story of how your organization engages with the business sector (i.e. sponsorship, volunteerism, etc.):

The Newman Center collaborates with business partners such as US Bank who help to sponsor our Musical Explorers education program that is a semester long music program for 2nd graders throughout Denver Public Schools. Our partnership with Cherry Creek Shopping Center has allowed us to share our performance and educational offerings to thousands of potential patrons and supporters.

How has this engagement with business benefitted you and your organization?

Our vision to be a cultural anchor for a thriving, dynamic, and diverse 21st century Denver is amplified throughout the community when our business partners (which include other nonprofit organizations) help support our mission. Business support not only provides crucial dollars for programming, it adds validity to our mission and values.

How is your organization supporting the creative economy?

The Newman Center is not only the home of the Lamont School of Music and the University of Denver’s Theatre Department who are training the next generation of artists, we are the home to dozens of local performing arts organizations such as Friends of Chamber Music, Denver Brass and Sound of the Rockies. Uplifting the creative economy is integral to our mission which includes commissioned work.

Why are you involved with CBCA?

As an advocate and presenter of the arts ourselves, organizations like CBCA are crucial to the success of Denver’s metro area arts organizations. We are proud to be involved as CBCA advances and validates the arts as an integral part of our city and state.
