ArtsConnect: Motown and More! From the Temptations to Lizzo

CBCA Members and their employees are invited to an exclusive final dress rehearsal performance of Motown and More! From the Temptations to Lizzo. Employees can request up to two complimentary tickets to this special sneak peek.

The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus returns to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House for Motown and More! From The Temptations to Lizzo. DGMC celebrates a half-century of iconic African American pop music that has its roots in the distinctive sounds of the Motor City and now permeates every genre of popular music today. The concert event will feature the first-ever collaboration with world-renowned Cleo Parker Robinson Dance. The Cleo II ensemble will perform three world premiere works, choreographed by Ms. Parker Robinson specifically for this concert.

In addition, Motown and More will feature the Colorado premiere of “The Seven Last Words of the Unarmed,” by Joel Thompson. The last words of seven unarmed black men – including Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner-  each killed by police or authority figures, inspired the lyrics for this  piece.  Aurora’s Rangeview High School Choir will join DGMC for this powerful multi-movement choral piece. DGMC’s Motown and More! From The Temptations to Lizzo opens to the public on April 1 and 2.
